L’Aperitivo Nonino BotanicalDrink, the all natural and vegan friendly aperitif, is the first Italian aperitif to have won the prestigious Meininger’s Spirits award “Aperitif of the Year 2021 International”, signed by the most important German editorial group of the wine & food sector. L’Aperitivo Nonino was chosen among a selection of more than 120 Aperitifs and Spirits from all over the world.

The recipe of the first woman Master Distiller in Italy

Silvia Milocco Nonino wife of Antonio, third generation of the family of Distillers, lost her husband during the war. The only wealth she had to support her family was pomace. So she rolled up her sleeves and set about learning quickly how to distill.

Silvia continues the art of Nonino liquor-making

Before becoming the first woman Master Distiller in Italy, she was a cook in her family’s restaurant. Her knowledge of botanicals gave her an extra gear in creating her first liqueur. She wanted to represent her land, Friuli: genuine, authentic and straightforward. So she created an aperitif of botanicals, which she called “Aperitivo Bianco”, the name wanted to indicate the purity and the quality of the ingredients.

In 2018, L’Aperitivo Nonino BotanicalDrink was born

After 3 years of studies on the botanicals, in 2018 Cristina, Antonella, Elisabetta and Francesca revisited the recipe of the Aperitivo Bianco, making it more precious with ÙE® Fragolino grape distillate and making it completely natural and vegan friend.

The label is a tribute to Silvia

The label of the new L’Aperitivo Nonino BotanicalDrink is a tribute to Grandmother/Great-grandmother, the first woman Master Distiller in Italy. It represents 3 women holding a glass, 3 like the 3 Nonino sisters but also like the 3 generations of Nonino female Distillers who followed Silvia.
